Local buses

The company "Lothian Buses" connects HW and the City Centre via buses 25, 34 (most frequent), 45 and the night N25 bus. http://www.lothian-buses.co.uk/ Tickets cost £1 each way and no change is given on the bus.

The 25 (Lothian Buses) departs from Princes Street (Waverley Steps) via Haymarket, Gorgie Road and Sighthill. The 25 is the most frequent bus to the Edinburgh Campus, leaving the city at least every 10 minutes during the day. The 25 runs until midnight, after which Lothian Buses operate Night Service N25 to the Edinburgh Campus from the top of Leith Street (Omni) via Princes Street, Haymarket, Gorgie and Sighthill. The N25 operates hourly Monday to Friday mornings and every 30 minutes on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The 34 (Lothian Buses) runs approximately every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday during the day and every 30 minutes in the evenings and on Sundays. It travels to the Campus from Leith (Ocean Terminal) via Fountainbridge and Longstone.

The 45 (Lothian Buses) departs from St Andrew Square via the Mound, Tollcross, Bruntsfield, Colinton and Currie. The 45 leaves the city every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday around 6.15pm, with more buses running after this time during University term time.

There are a number of taxi services in the centre of Edinburgh including those at Waverley Station (rail) and St Andrew Square (coach station). The journey to Heriot-Watt University takes about 30 minutes. At the Edinburgh Campus, the taxis can be requested from the reception desk in the James Watt Centre.
